About Malcolm Forbes
He took over the magazine that his father B. C. Forbes had started. In 1953 he lost the Republican nomination for New Jersey governor to Paul L. Troast, but in 1957 he won the nomination and was defeated by incumbent Governor Robert Meyner. Forbes was a strong supporter of capitalism and free‑market ideas, and he was famous for an extravagant lifestyle that included lavish parties, frequent travel, and a large collection of homes, yachts, aircraft, art, motorcycles and Fabergé eggs.
