About John Keats
John Keats was an English Romantic poet who died of tuberculosis at 25 after publishing for less than four years. His work was only modestly received while he lived but became highly regarded after his death. He belonged to the second generation of Romantic poets alongside Lord Byron and Percy Bysshe Shelley. By the end of the 19th century his poems were included in the English literary canon and influenced the Pre‑Raphaelite Brotherhood. The 1888 Encyclopædia Britannica called his 'Ode to a Nightingale' one of the final masterpieces.
