About Daniel Webster
Daniel Webster was an American lawyer and statesman who served as Secretary of State and represented New Hampshire and Massachusetts in Congress. He worked as a diplomat for Presidents William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, and Millard Fillmore. In his legal career he argued more than 200 cases before the United States Supreme Court, making him one of the most prominent 19th‑century lawyers. He was a member of the Federalist, National Republican, and Whig parties, and he formed part of the Great Triumvirate with Henry Clay and John C. Calhoun.
