About Alexis de Tocqueville

His full name was Alexis Charles Henri Clérel, comte de Tocqueville. He also wrote The Old Regime and the Revolution in 1856. In his books he examined how people lived, their social conditions, and how they related to markets and government in Western societies. After traveling across the United States, he published Democracy in America, which is now seen as an early work of sociology and political science.
